Our Mission ~ "This organization shall contribute to
the advancement and improvement of the quality of life on
the installation. Santa's Workshop is exclusively funded by
donations and is staffed entirely by volunteers who strive
to present a professional and positive attitude while
working year round in order to distribute new toys, books,
and games to children in the Fort Hood military community
during Christmas time." |
Santa's Workshop, a 501-C3 non-profit organization, was originated exclusively
for charitable purposes as a unit-level (13th COSCOM) initiative.
Out of necessity, it grew into an installation-level project in 1998.
Our mission is to make new toys accessible for needy
children of the Fort Hood military community during the holiday season.
Who knows the needs of the children better than their parents? At
Santa's Workshop Fort Hood, the parents browse our well-stocked shelves
to make the most appropriate selections of brand new toys, games and
books for their children. This
past year we helped over 3,400 children to enjoy a happier holiday.
The success of Santa's
Workshop is a direct result of the generous support received from the
military community and from the many individuals, private organizations and
businesses in and around Central Texas. With their help, our typical annual
inventory consists of more than 6400 toys, 3200 books and 3200 games. The
approximate monetary value of gifts distributed for each child is $30, but the
non-monetary value is immeasurable. |
